New Jersey is known for a wide variety of food: world-class pizzas and other Italian fare, bagels, dinners, fresh produce, and boardwalk fare, among others. But according to a food blogger, New Jersey is home to some of the best Mexican food in the country.
According to the blog site, Huge, a restaurant in Union City is one of the best Mexican restaurants in all of the United States. La Piedra del Sol, a family-run restaurant, compares favorably to its California and Texas counterparts, according to this blog, anyway.
Apparently, the blogger isn’t the only one who finds La Piedra Del Sol delicious; they get 4.5 stars on Yelp!, too much. According to the restaurant’s Facebook page, this is an Oaxacan-style Mexican restaurant serving traditional dishes in a casual setting.
So what did the reviewer find so special about the restaurant? Here is just a sample of the review:
The shrimp fajitas were dripping with flavor. The guacamole was creamy and delicious. The simple fries and salsa were an amazing experience: several salsas with rich, deep flavors and crispy tortilla wedges, all homemade.
Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?
They have a full menu that includes breakfast entrees (they open at 9 am daily), lunch and dinner options, with no entree costing over $ 14.95. If you’d like to try what the reviewer says “maybe the best Mexican north of the Rio Grande,” La Piedra Del Sol is located on 48th Street in Union City and is open Mondays. by Sat 9 am to 9 pm (closed Sunday).
